We're wrapping up our trip back in time. 2020 has certainly given us pause and time to reflect on our history and the many parts the studio, our directors, and developing artists have played throughout the community. We've shared so many amazing moments across our social media platforms; as we celebrate our 10th anniversary. So, let's continue where we left off and put a bow on it! Below you'll find highlights from our 2018-2019 portfolio. You've been with us in real-time through 2020, but in case you missed it, we posted links to each rung of the tour at the bottom. *Newsletter | mailchi.mp/07dbcd758c35/thatsallfolks?e=083966620b

When we think of legacy, we think of a quote from Shannon L. Alder. "Carve your name on hearts, not tombstones. A legacy is etched into the minds of others and the stories they share about you." Legacy isn't brick and mortar. It's how you choose to live and affect others.
Thank you for your continued support, stay safe and well, from all of us at Hickory Arts.
All my lovin',
Jeff Hartman Artistic Director

We kicked off 2018 with several audio projects for film & television. We also dabbled in podcasting with one of our rising stars with a gift for gab. Now everyone on Earth has a podcast. Here's a look back to February 15, 2018, at Artist Development student, Madison Phelps and Artistic Director, Jeff Hartman discussing Gen-Z versus Gen-X Valentine’s Days and much more than you’ll ever be interested in. *Senior Portrait by Carol Anne Hartman Photography #hickoryartshistory

Summer of 2018 found us producing a Synth-Pop/Psych-Rock EP for The Versailles Affair called "All Good Things." Available on all digital platforms. #hickoryartshistory
The Versailles Affair is a blast from the past combining Synth-Pop, New Wave, & Psych-Rock with modern production & influences such as vaporwave & trap to create music that aspires to make you dance & be happy.
"All Good Things" is about relationships, love, and personal upliftment from the forces of negativity. The album starts off with "July;" a bouncy New Wave song about a past relationship and wanting to go back to that time. Next is "Everything's Easy When You Don't Care;" a Synth-Pop song about not caring about what others think and "I Saw Her" a brain-melting Psychedelic Rock track that's basically "Jessie's Girl" if it was about a ghost. Finally, the record closes with "She's In Love;" a mix between an 80's ballad and a trap banger; about a girl who wants to climb to the stars, passing time and making drawings of moonbeams.
This record was made to make people feel good in bad times and it definitely seems like the times are pretty bad, but music has always been a positive tool for change, not just for individuals, but the world as well. So dance your cares away and celebrate every day.
A look back to May 11, 2018, at Hickory Christian Academy and several Hickory Arts Voice students singing their hearts out. #hickoryartshistoryA look back to May 14, 2018, when the Moore Bothers were interviewed at Hickory Arts for the UNC-TV Homegrown Music Series. We enjoyed having both Jake and Isaac as Voice students and even more so now that Jake is an instructor for just about everything; Banjo, Mandolin, Ukelele, Fiddle, Bass & Guitar. The Moore Brothers are Grammy-nominated artists and we couldn't be prouder of them as artists and good people. #hickoryartshistory

Celebrating 10 Years with a Tour!
Jeff & Carol Anne helped found Down to Hear Studios in Hickory, NC with renowned Down to Hear record producers David and Michael French in 2010 in an effort to challenge the impersonal, quantity over quality teaching and studio culture and supplement the artistic needs of developing artists and organizations in Hickory and surrounding areas. The studio relocated closer to Union Square in 2011 as Hickory Arts. Hickory Arts have since served as a crossroads between area theatres and other organizations over the past decade.
Hickory Arts is the “un-studio”—a simple, custom, non-event-driven teaching & production studio dedicated to coaching and empowering performance artists.
There’s a very thin line, if any, between who we are and what we do as artists, so please know that supporting/subscribing to anything Hickory Arts and affiliated artists is very much appreciated.
