Interactive Seminar with Legendary Producer/Recording Artist Paul Sabu December 10 & 11, 2010 at Down to Hear Studios (now Hickory Arts) Located next to Johnson Piano & Organ Exchange (now across from Hickory Optimist Park) HICKORY – Following the recent sold-out success of Down to Hear’s master songwriting class with Billboard artist Kyle Vincent, DTH is thrilled to announce the next in their long series of events and interactive seminars, this one featuring producer and rock legend, Paul Sabu. Paul Sabu has been credited with production/mixing on fourteen platinum and eleven gold records. He also produced Shania Twain’s first album. Mr. Sabu is best known for his work with his band “Only Child” plus an arsenal of artists such as David Bowie, Alice Cooper, Little Caesar, Lee Aaron, Madonna, Malice, Robbie Neville, Motels, The Nelsons, Prince, John Waite, Tattoo Rodeo, Fatal Smile, and many more. Paul is the son of Tony Award-winning actress Marilyn Cooper and Sabu Dastagir, perhaps best known for his role as “Abu” in the 1940 British film, “The Thief of Bagdad” and his 1942 role based on the Kipling story, namely “Mowgli” in “Jungle Book,” directed by Zoltán Korda. Paul’s music has been featured in film and television series soundtracks including Baywatch, Vice Versa, Natural Born Killers, Million Dollar Mystery, Sex & The City, Trick Or Treat, The Accused, Ghost Town, Twinsitters and others. Only Child’s self titled debut album from 1988 was voted No. 22 out of 40 on the KERRANG! Magazine, “The Best AOR albums Of All Time” list in 2005. Most recently, the fans of Kerrang! Magazine voted Paul Sabu as their second favorite AOR vocalist of all time, subsequently contributing a vocal track on AOR’s “Voices Of Rock” album. Hickory’s own Down To Hear Studios (now Hickory Arts) will host Mr. Sabu with a two-day, interactive seminar on Friday, December 10 and Saturday, December 11. The class will be held for two full days starting at 10 am with lunch breaks and ending at 6 pm each day. This course is open to all, from amateurs to professionals. Paul makes himself available to you from the perspective of a legendary artist, producer, songwriter/musician and an engineer. Participants will write a song, put a band together, rehearse, then record the song. Each person will play a role. Some will be players. Some will assist and some will get coffee, so be prepared!
