Advanced Acting Intensive
Now registering for Hickory Arts' Advanced Acting Intensive with Jeff Hartman (Ages 16 to Adult) *13-15 exceptions may be made via audition. This group class will run 2 hours/week for 8 weeks from 6-8 pm beginning Tuesday, September 8th, 2015. 6 actors-minimum.
The class will explore "Bargaining" by Kellie Powell. Hannah asks her boyfriend, Ryan, "If you could live forever, would you?" Hannah has been 23 since the year 1954. Ryan finds this pretty hard to believe at first, but love leads him not only to believe her, but accept her offer to make him immortal like her. Bargaining is a thousand-year drama of love and loss, that uses the supernatural element of immortality to explore themes of devotion and forgiveness.
The class will employ "The Method" (The Stanislavsky System). Emphases include human behavior, interpersonal communication, threading, choices, between the lines, physicality, empathy, character study, musical theatre applications and the do's and don't's of interview and audition protocols and procedures. *Headshot and resume required.
Each actor is expected to memorize at least one scene with a scene partner and establish a journal in a three ring binder. This journal will be used each day in class for notes, self-assessments, analysis and to contain all handouts and other information given to the student.
The cost of the intensive is $240 for the full 8 weeks.
